Global trend, reduced physical activity from 2001-2016

A study by the WHO (World Health Organization) shows that a quarter of the world's population, a total of 1.4 billion people, do not move enough.

Studies are based on self-reported data from 358 studies in 168 countries, including 1.9 million people and published in the scientific journal The Lancet Public Health (Here you can read the full study, published September 4, 2018). Results show that more than a quarter of the world's population is too inactive, which can result in an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.

If the current trend continues, the WHO’s goal of reducing physical inactivity by 10% by 2025 will not be achieved.
