History of Mattings

It all started with Jon Botha – an entrepreneur from Norway with a passion for business and building lasting relationships. His entrepreneurial journey took unexpected turns through the United States and China, involving everything from popcorn machines, roof boxes, and shrimp before ultimately leading to anti-fatigue mats and ergonomic workplace solutions. Thirty-five years later, in 2011, the company entered a new chapter as ownership passed to the next generation. Siblings Henrik, Karin, and Åse took over the business and continue to lead the company as its owners today.
In 2023, Matting celebrated its 50th anniversary. – The journey to 100 has just begun.

Our products are manufactured by carefully selected specialist partners. Strict standards for materials, construction, and quality control ensure reliable performance, high quality, and long-lasting durability.

Our sustainability work

The StandUp DESK concept has been divested

After more than a decade with the StandUp DESK concept, in the fall of 2025 we chose to focus further on our core business: professional and ergonomic mats and flooring products for public environments and workplaces.

To be able to focus on the core business, the StandUp DESK concept furniture collection was divested to make room for professional mats and flooring products. This creates the opportunity to broaden and deepen the product range as well as further develop our services and clarify the offering.

We are proud of the innovation work we have carried out and the debate we have driven surrounding active learning environments and sustainable office solutions – without the need for electricity.

The product range and its continued development were taken over by Anderssons Mekaniska, while Rakama AB is responsible for the distribution. This creates favorable conditions for our customers while allowing us to focus fully on our long-term strategy.
